I know that lately I’ve posted quite a few recipes with apples and don’t want you to think that I don’t know about the existence of other ingredients, but I have a case and I must do something with them. 😀
This recipe is unusual, at least for me, because I used phyllo pastry sheets and we all know that they are made of white wheat flour. I’m sure that those who follow me already know that I try to avoid this type of flour, but I chose to use phyllo pastry for a reason.
I don’t know how many of you found those sites with „diet friendly” recipes with white flour and tonnes of sugar, where the expression „diet friendly” is used in a totally unjustified manner. When they don’t use sugar, honey or agave, they use brown sugar and insists on saying that their dessert is sugar free. Do not get me wrong, everyone is entitled to write what they want on their blog, but I don’t like when people are selling dreams and misinformation. Honey, agave syrup and brown sugar have a high content of carbohydrates and more or less the same number of calories as the old classic sugar.
I don’t know how many of you will believe me, but people are very resistant to change. We don’t like to be taken out of our comfort zone, we do not like to learn and putting too much effort and when I say these things I am also considering myself. Of course, when we want to change our lifestyle, it would be ideal to change it radically and to exclude as many unhealthy foods as possible, but often this strategy is not working.
There are people who find it more difficult to eliminate white wheat flour and when looking for diet friendly recipe, find some piece of crap and never get their expected results. Because I want to help as many people as I can, I decided to do this kind of pie. Each human being has a rhythm of assimilation and I don’t believe in forced change. If you don’t feel ready to experiment with other types of flour, remove sugar from your diet and any other „sweetener” which has a high glycemic index. Apples and white flour already have a high content of carbohydrates and believe me when I say that you don’t want to contribute by adding sugar.
